The Day I Bought My Fiat 600 (In DEVIL Mode 👿)

[2026-10-31 18:21]

Sharing a true story about the moment that culminated in the purchase of my car! 🚗

For most of my life, I drove older cars. In Germany, we call them 'Schrott Autos' in a funny tone.
Yes, those old bangers that basically just have four tyres, an engine, brakes, and somehow—magically—compete with fancy new ones on the road, even though absolutely nothing else works! 🤣🤣🤣

My husband is self-employed and manages his own auto repair shop.
He should be the one taking care of all my needs (the cars😡)— he really should!
Well, he rarely takes care of our cars!
All of our own cars are always the very last on his to-do list!
Horrible, just horrible! 🙄

One day, I was just so tired of asking him to check my 'Schrott Auto'.
Out of nowhere, the car developed a mind of its own and decided to stop dead in the middle of traffic.
For two long years, Mr. Husband tested my patience.
By then, both of my daughters were born, and the youngest was almost three.

Then came the final straw: in the middle of transit, the car just refused to start (again!).
After finally getting it to run again, I pulled over, slammed the fludging door, and called him — in full-on DEVIL mode 👿 — while he was at work.
I said:

"Tomorrow, I am going to buy a new car. With my own money. A NEW CAR!
And I will never sit my lower airbags on this old piece of junk again!"
And that is exactly what I did!
He didn't even try to convince me otherwise.

Today, in 2026, my little yellow Fiat 600 has nearly 400,000 km on the clock.
I bought it brand new back in 2001, which means we are celebrating a massive 25 years together!
I still drive it every single day, and I absolutely love this car! 💛

We named it 'Tweety' way before Twitter was ever a thing—and just like its namesake, this little bird has grown up right alongside our family. 🐥

It took us absolutely everywhere we wanted to go, flying from the very South to the far North of my beautiful country, Portugal! 🇵🇹✨

My daughters are all grown up now, and whenever they look at it today, they just laugh and say it is way too little! 😂
But to me, Tweety will always be the perfect giant reward for standing my ground.
